LETS TALK MATERNITY

WE'RE HERE FOR IT. In so many of its varying forms, we are here for maternity sessions. They're amazing and give us life, and they're so often ( sadly) passed up by expectant moms. Why is that? Dont get me wrong, we get it! You're possibly not feeling the greatest, mentally or physically. You're maybe thinking "its not about me". I get it, I hear it, I WAS the same. And let me just say - I have lived to regret not having a maternity session of my own. So, in a way, its almost like my pregnancies didn't exist, it's weird. I wish like heck that I had just made myself do it. I wish I had taken a day for myself and either done my own hair and makeup or just decided to go all in and have it done.

So, we're here for it. We've got your back, we understand how you're feeling and can appreciate the fact that you're even reading this and possibly on the fence about it. If you're on the fence, we invite you to hop over. Let me tell you some things about our maternity sessions....as you will see below they can really be a lot of different things. You can opt for some traditional studio images where we really focus on posing you and potentially your significant other. Or we can take it outdoors and give it a sweet romantic natural vibe, or a bit of both. It's up to you and what speaks to you! Its an experience you just won't regret.

Now lets discuss how we are different and hopefully right for you - we offer a large selection of studio dresses and gowns and fabrics to choose from. We're also happy and willing to shoot nude and implied nude maternity images done tastefully and timelessly. Many beautiful dresses you see in the stores are great to wear for a day as a pregnant person, but they may also not photograph that well and thats why we've taken the time to accumulate some of the best options on the market. We've got dresses in plenty of different shapes, sizes and colors to accentuate things we want and camouflage others. If you're feeling frumpy and not so great about yourselves- trust in us!! Its literally our job to make you look and feel your absolute best (and that typically boils down to posing and styling and just an overall comfort level you'll have during a session with us). You dont have to be a model, or know what to do with your hands, or face, or any of the things. We're here for it. We explain it all and, no-lie, by the end of most sessions our maternity clients feel like a pro, they know what we're going to say and how they should pose before we even say it! We make it fun and enjoyable. We laugh together and get excited about your upcoming baby together. Plus, if you're thinking about booking a newborn session with us, parents LOVE using the maternity session as a vetting process. A getting-to-know-us event. Afterall, we'll be the ones you're trusting with your brand new baby weeks after seeing us with that pregnant belly. It just feels so much more relaxed at the newborn session if we've already broken the ice with you and your partner. You can actually feel the level of comfort from the time we welcome you back into the studio, now as parents! After reaching out to us about a maternity session we invite you to head on over to our newborn page and feel all the feels of what's in store for you next.

FAQ

When is the ideal time for a maternity session?

This is obviously NOT a one size fits all answer here. However there are certainly "industry norms" and thats typically around the 30-34 weeks pregnant. There are variables and preferences to keep in mind though. Some women show much sooner than others. If this is a pregnancy with multiples thats something to consider when planning as well as whether this is your first pregnancy or not.

How soon should I book?

As soon as you're ready. Many women reach out to us as one of the first people they tell they're pregnant to. Though thats not necessary. We do tend to book a couple months in advance though and summer/fall is always our extremely busy season so the sooner you reach out the better to avoid us being overbooked.

Is there a way to add professional hair and makeup styling to the session?

Absolutely, and it's always a great idea on so many levels. Looking and feeling your best going into the session just makes it flow so much better and leaves you feeling great at the end of it all. We work with a professional hair and makeup artist who always does a stellar job, so just let us know if this is something you're interested in so we can coordinate that scheduling for your session.

Is the session indoors or out?

Either, or both. That depends on your taste and what you're looking for in the session. We have multiple backdrop colors as well as acreage on the studio property that we can photograph at so it makes it convenient for those wanting a bit of both worlds.

How do I book?

Just click on the contact button and fill out the information and we will respond and start the planning process. We do require a downpayment of part of the session fee sent via invoice to make things official, and our appointments are booked on a first come first served basis.

Do you have a client wardrobe?

YES WE DO! Its an ever-growing wardrobe too, constantly keeping up on the latest styles and trends. We have something for every shape and size and style. You don'd need to buy or bring anything other than nude bra and underwear.

How do I prepare for the session?

If you're adding on hair and makeup we suggest arriving with clean and dry hair and a clean face with no makeup or moisturizer. ( If you're doing hair and makeup yourself that you'll arrive photo-ready to our studio)
Make sure to check that nailpolish is in the best shape, or none at all. Consider potential outfit options including bodysuits, leg slits on dresses, or sheer materials and plan appropriately as far as hair removal goes, and we ALWAYS suggest bringing a nude bra (preferably strapless option as well) and a nude thong as it can be hidden under dresses and bodysuits etc.

Can we do some nude images?

Sure, we can do whats referred to as "implied nude" where we capture the beauty of the pregnanct form while still covering "the bits". This is often with either sheer material coverings or silhouette type images or shooting from the side etc.
